Role Overview

The Staff Accountant will be integral to the ongoing transition to automated systems for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), contributing to the enhancement of the accounting and finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and record all payables and receivables for both property and corporate entities.
  • Establish new property rent rolls using site maps, civil plans, and appraisals.
  • Set up and oversee all leases and their escalations, utilizing lease agreements, amendments, and renewal documents.
  • Monitor security deposits, tenant improvement allowances, and commissions for each tenant.
  • Collaborate with the Property Management team on tenant billings and collections.
  • Work closely with Property Management to oversee vendor payments and maintain monthly property-level cash balances.
  • Keep an updated utility bill tracking spreadsheet to ensure timely collection and payment of invoices, preventing service interruptions.
  • Ensure compliance for 1099 reporting and insurance coverage requirements by maintaining current vendor information.
  • Assist the accounting team in the creation and distribution of 1099 forms.
  • Calculate monthly Management Fees and process corresponding invoices and deposits.
  • Determine Sales Tax obligations and manage online reporting and remittance.
  • Maintain a Property Tax spreadsheet to ensure timely payment of all taxes.
  • Support the Accounting team with month-end close entries and reconciliations.
  • Compile reports related to lease activities as needed.
  • Conduct ad hoc reporting as required.
