Position Summary:

The Youth Program Facilitator is tasked with designing, executing, and overseeing a range of educational and recreational activities for school-aged children in both before and after school settings, as well as during summer programs. This role is essential in creating a secure and stimulating environment that nurtures the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement engaging and age-appropriate activities that align with educational goals.
  • Lead various activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational projects.
  • Ensure inclusivity in activities to meet the diverse needs of all participants.
  • Maintain constant supervision of children to guarantee their safety and well-being.
  • Enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child care guidelines established by relevant authorities.
  • Administer basic first aid and respond to emergencies according to established procedures.
  • Foster a nurturing environment that supports emotional and social development.
  • Utilize positive behavior management strategies.
  • Address behavioral challenges in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and behavior.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and incidents.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing program materials.
  • Support the school-age teacher in documenting each child's development.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of activity spaces and equipment.
  • Exhibit flexibility in performing additional job-related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 19 years and at least five years older than the oldest child in care.
  • Educational background: 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours from an accredited institution, including coursework related to child care or education, or equivalent experience in a relevant setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities for planning and implementing activities.
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive demeanor to engage children effectively.
