Job Summary

Restaurant Depot is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join our team. As an Inventory Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of physical inventory at the branch, making decisions on pricing, and ensuring that gross margins are maintained on a level required by corporate.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the accuracy of physical inventory at the branch

• Use a scan gun and move merchandise as needed to obtain information

• Make decisions on pricing and ensure gross margins are maintained

• Communicate margin issues to buyers and follow up for timely response

• Review sales price differential report to determine if front-end pricing is accurate and make changes as needed

• Insure that cycle counts are conducted on a timely and regular basis

• Train all staff for inventory purposes and be responsible for the preparation and conducting of semi-annual inventories

• Coordinate Inventory Control with the Receiving, Perishables, Dry Goods Floor, and Front End to ensure low stock, out-of-stock, negative on-hand, and computer inventory is correct

• Supervise Stock-taker

• Coordinate writing of adjustment vouchers to vendors for damages and meet with vendor reps to obtain their approvals

• Responsible for liquor and tobacco tax filings with the proper governmental agencies

• Report shrink and research causes

• Control markdowns & voids by monitoring damages and overstock

• Analyze and determine reasons for negative inventory and margins

• Review store statistical reports for any abnormal or erroneous data

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in retail or wholesale

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

• Background in Physical Inventory maintenance/control

• Proven leadership skills; ability to supervise and direct employees

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, vendors, customers, and buying department

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass, and volume

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation

• Must be PC literate; working knowledge of MS Office; 10-key skills a big plus

Work Environment

The Inventory Controller will work in a warehouse environment with moderate temperatures, but will also perform inventory in refrigerated areas and freezers. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for up to 4 hours at a time, and perform other physical demands as outlined in the job description.
