Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing is responsible for administering the nursing program in a long-term care facility, ensuring high standards of resident care. This role involves facilitating the optimization of the geriatric care process to improve quality and efficiency of service. The Director of Nursing is accountable for the overall quality of care provided by the organization's nursing personnel, advising medical staff, department heads, and administrators on nursing service and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer the nursing program, maintaining standards of resident care
- Facilitate the optimization of the geriatric care process to improve quality and efficiency of service
- Oversee the overall quality of care provided by the organization's nursing personnel
- Advise medical staff, department heads, and administrators on nursing service and strategies
- Interpret policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups
- Monitor operations of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations on organizational and governmental standards and practices
- Schedule staff and conduct employee performance reviews
- Provide nursing care to residents on an as-needed basis
- Assist in the development and implementation of marketing activities/programs, including community activities, special events, and media activities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred
- Five years of nursing experience required
- Housing with Services, housing and urban development (HUD), and/or assisted living experience helpful
- Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care
- Working knowledge of administrative and management techniques
- Current RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring
