We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner II to join our team in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, managing and coordinating inpatient care, and working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assess health needs, plan, and evaluate care for patients on the general surgery services and in the surgical intensive care unit.
- Participate in inpatient sign out, follow up with general surgery teams, residents, and attending physicians, and be involved in trauma resuscitations and surgical consultations.
- Responsibility for care and organization of procedures, follow-up, obtaining consults as needed, and discharging patients when appropriate.
- Triage phone calls, review critical labs, follow up on results with patients and medical staff, obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform initial and periodic physical examinations/assessments, and explore patients' interpretation of health needs.
- Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, other paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency and law enforcement officers.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures.
- Knowledge of Windows and MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, Quest, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Familiarity with UC policies and procedures.
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in Trauma/Critical Care.
