General Overview
The Retail Cash Register Associate is accountable for processing transactions related to the sale and/or return of products.

Key Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

Customer Engagement

  • Represent Kortendick Ace Hardware positively.
  • Welcome customers as they enter and throughout their shopping experience. Thank customers by name when possible as they exit.
  • Exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor; collaborate effectively with both customers and team members.
  • Efficiently manage customer checkout lines to minimize wait times.
  • Promptly and courteously respond to all calls and pages.
  • Communicate any issues that require management intervention.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge and assist customers with store layout and product locations.
  • Support in pricing, stocking, labeling, and bagging merchandise.
Register Operations

  • Adhere to all cash register transaction protocols.
  • Responsible for ensuring the register drawer is balanced.
  • Implement any store promotions that may be applicable at the cash registers.
  • Participate in store and cashier meetings.
Front End Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors.
  • Assist in keeping impulse purchase displays stocked and organized, rotating merchandise as necessary.
  • Ensure promotional materials are consistently available in shopping carts.
  • Keep forms and supplies adequately stocked at all times.
  • Assist in decorating the front end in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Request cart pickups when needed.
  • Notify management when merchandise returns require restocking.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Other Essential Qualifications

Education/Training

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

Prior cashier experience is preferred. Customer service experience is also advantageous.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and climb as necessary.
