Position Summary

The Family Support Specialist plays a crucial role under the Foster and Adoption Support contract, focusing on assisting prospective foster parents in achieving placement and licensure. This position involves providing ongoing support and monitoring for potential Foster Parents and Kinship Caregivers, ensuring compliance with safety standards established by relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive client information with discretion.
  • Utilize advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrate the ability to learn new software applications while training others.
  • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of clinical records in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Conduct thorough home evaluations and ongoing monitoring visits, providing timely and complete reports.
  • Facilitate navigation for both licensed and unlicensed Kinship families.
  • Apply knowledge of licensing regulations and assess home environments, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Foster Care Program, including contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor foster families to ensure adherence to Foster Care policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and present home studies that provide factual descriptions of families for licensure and placement appropriateness.
  • Engage in essential program activities such as family assessments, home-based support, and case coordination.
  • Demonstrate skills in individual and family group processes, supporting case plans for relevant agencies.
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity in interactions involving children, foster families, and biological families.
  • Participate in outreach activities to recruit and retain foster and adoptive families.
  • Guide potential Foster Parents and Kinship Caregivers in accessing necessary resources.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of higher education in a related Human Services field.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience, particularly with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification is necessary.
  • Ability to provide transportation to clients' homes and relevant organizations.
  • Availability for on-call duties during weekdays and scheduled weekend hours.
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not essential.
  • Must meet training and organizational requirements for the role.
  • Commitment to fostering a solution-focused, compassionate environment aligned with the organization's mission and values.
  • Demonstrated dedication to diversity and inclusion, valuing diverse perspectives.
  • Must qualify for and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and insurability under the organization's policy is required.
  • Ability to clear the Department of Child Safety Central Registry and pass a random annual drug screening.
