Senior Cybersecurity Analytics Architect
Position Title: Sr. Security Analytics Architect (Azure + Data Bricks)
Location: Remote
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with business units to develop a comprehensive vision for tools that enable effective monitoring of the dark web and other data sources, ensuring the protection of the organization and its clients from potential threats.
Establish a clear set of metrics, reports, and alerts that align with this vision while being technically viable based on available data and modeling capabilities.
Clearly define the business objectives for each metric and report, along with the methodology for calculating these metrics from existing datasets.
Work with business stakeholders who will provide high-level goals, while taking the lead in identifying industry best practices for necessary analytics and their construction.
This role encompasses the dual functions of Subject Matter Expert (SME) and architect, requiring a perspective akin to that of a Chief Risk Officer to design an analytics suite that identifies and mitigates critical threats.
Additionally, the role necessitates the ability to communicate this analytics package in both business terminology and technical specifications, guiding engineering teams in its development and implementation.
Required Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles and risk management.
- Strong familiarity with metrics commonly utilized in cybersecurity and fraud analytics.
- Knowledge of dark web intelligence tools, techniques, and sources.
- Awareness of the tactics, techniques, and procedures employed by cybercriminals and other threat actors on the dark web.
- Proficiency in statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling techniques for analyzing large datasets for security threat patterns.
- Understanding of specific cybersecurity requirements and regulatory standards applicable to financial institutions.
- Knowledge of cloud engineering and the development of data preparation and analytics pipelines.
Key Skills:
Effective Communicator: The individual in this role must possess the ability to ask insightful questions to uncover the true needs of business stakeholders and articulate the feasibility of solutions based on the existing data and technology stack.
Leading design discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential. This individual must clearly convey technical specifications to team members while also explaining the business rationale behind the requirements.
Analytical Thinker: The person filling this position must adeptly decompose business challenges into logical components and align these with available technical solutions.
They should grasp the logical connections between various client requests and how they integrate into a cohesive solution from both business and technical perspectives, while effectively organizing and planning work with complex interdependencies.
Preferred Experience:
- A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in data analytics, particularly focused on security threat detection, ideally within the financial services sector.
- Proven experience in monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting dark web data to identify potential security threats.
- At least 5-7 years of experience leading a team of data analysts or engineers, demonstrating the ability to manage and mentor team members, delegate tasks effectively, and cultivate a collaborative work environment.
- 5+ years in data and analytics engineering.
