General Practice Dentistry Preceptor Position

The General Practice Dentistry Preceptor is a key role at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, responsible for providing students with comprehensive training in diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care. This position requires a general dentist with a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree and at least five years of experience in general dentistry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a passion for mentoring students.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise dental students in the LECOM Dental Group Practices
- Provide students with basic clinical training in general dentistry, including oral diagnosis, oral and maxillofacial surgery, endodontics, periodontics, and more
- Advise students on consultations in various specialties of dentistry
- Follow LECOM SDM Standardization manual and clinic manual
- Attend meetings approved by SDM to advance the profession
- Manage a 10-15 chair patient practice area
- Work collaboratively with faculty and students to maintain patient flow
- General dentist with a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from a U.S. dental school
- At least five years of experience in general dentistry
- Teaching experience in dental academia preferred
- Advanced training in a hospital-based dental general practice residency (GPR) program or a dental school-based advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) residency preferred
- Current Florida dental license or ability to obtain a Florida dental teaching permit
