Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counselor II to join our team at Tri-County Human Services. As a key member of our Family Safety Services Team, you will play a vital role in assessing and managing program clients, providing referrals to community resources, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen clients and family members referred by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) using a standardized substance abuse screening tool, and participate in service plan development.
  • Coordinate linkages and follow-up activities, including identifying barriers and facilitating barrier removal.
  • Participate in ESI staffings and quarterly staffings to monitor client progress.
  • Perform case management functions concurrent with the client Family Safety Supervision Plan, including maintaining case records, coordinating additional services as needed, and performing drug screens as required.
  • Monitor client progress regarding completing substance abuse intervention/treatment plan objectives and provide monthly reports to DCFS Family Safety staff.
  • Manage a discretionary fund to support substance abuse treatment completion, maintaining records and audit trails of expended funds.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Human Services from an accredited college or university, such as Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time experience in mental health or addictions treatment settings, or certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida.
  • Participation in a staff-training program.
