Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to provide clinical support to our healthcare team. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient information, including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, and medication review.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
  • Assist patients as needed, taking measures to ensure their safety and privacy.
  • Provide direct patient care as directed by the provider, including performing EKGs, wound dressings, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Administer medications according to policy and procedure, after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, completing associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform phlebotomy and assist in specific laboratory functions, as educated and overseen by the receptionist.
  • Document patient information in the electronic medical record, ensuring a complete and accurate medical record.
  • Use the electronic medical record and scheduling system to manage patient appointments, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
  • Collect co-payments and assist with orientation of new personnel, as directed by the provider and/or site lead.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required
