Your Role:

We are seeking a highly qualified Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to take on a senior role within our organization. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on enhancing operational efficiency through advanced data analytics and insights. Our section employs agile methodologies to deliver innovative tools and applications that facilitate data discovery, analysis, and visualization across the enterprise.

The ISSO will act as the primary consultant to the Information System Owner, Business Process Owner, and Chief Information Security Officer on all security-related matters concerning information systems. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective implementation and ongoing management of security controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical information assurance initiatives, including network and server assessments, vulnerability management, and compliance verification of network assets.
  • Possess a strong grasp of industry-standard security tools and compliance frameworks, including FISMA, DIACAP, and NIST guidelines.
  • Evaluate and recommend security products to meet client requirements and provide tier two support during system performance evaluations.
  • Address and troubleshoot security issues arising from system lockdowns, managing both local and remote network administration.
  • Serve as the key advisor on security matters, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of information systems.
  • Implement and oversee necessary security measures to protect information systems from unauthorized access and modifications.
  • Guide other departments on the physical protection of information systems and report on data security effectiveness.
  • Assist in the development and navigation of accreditation documentation for the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
  • Conduct regular self-assessments of network security.

In this role, you will also be responsible for creating and updating documentation that constitutes the ATO package, including the System Security Plan and Incident Response Plan.

Additionally, you will generate Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) based on vulnerability assessments and maintain records accordingly.

Qualifications:

• Active Top-Secret clearance is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience, with at least 3 years in security engineering, system auditing, or penetration testing. Relevant certifications such as MCSA, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP are preferred.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
