Job Summary:

As a Patient Care Technician at UW Health in Northern Illinois, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient care, performing selected cross-trained skills, treatments, and procedures, and updating the RN with timely information regarding patient status. You will also participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences to support the departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care, including EKG and/or monitoring

• Perform selected cross-trained skills, treatments, and procedures specific to the department

• Update RN with timely information regarding patient status

• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences

Requirements:

• Must provide copy of diploma/degree for highest level of education obtained

• Certification as a Nursing Assistant or completion of fundamentals of nursing course and registration on the Illinois Department of Health Registry

• Bi-Annual CPR designation by recommended renewal date

• Heart Hospital incumbents must complete BDI course within six months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successful completion of annual clinical, age, and job-specific competencies and skill verification tools

• Good interpersonal, organizational, and critical decision-making skills

• Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing

• Computer experience helpful

• Basic arithmetic skills required

• Exceptional customer service skills with all customers
