Job Summary:

This role is responsible for providing technical support and assistance during Endoscopy procedures under the supervision of nurses and physicians. The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for preparing equipment and procedure rooms for procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble equipment and supplies needed prior to procedures, including setting up instruments and preparing procedure rooms.
  • Assist physicians with Endoscopy procedures.
  • Assist with obtaining, labeling, and delivering biopsies and laboratory samples under the direct supervision of the RN or MD.
  • Maintain, order, and stock supplies for Endoscopy.
  • Ensure specialized equipment and instruments are properly maintained and troubleshoot minor problems.
  • Answer telephone calls, answer questions concerning procedures, and relay messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • May assist with patient transport and perform IV insertions if trained.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED in compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Endoscopy or healthcare experience.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to see and read information, labels, and sterile indicator tags.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require verbal communication and hearing.
  • Manual dexterity is required for manipulating complex equipment and instruments.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and retrieve supplies.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods with personal protective equipment.
