We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Informatics Nurse Specialist to join our team at Medstar. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of clinical information systems and their impact on patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Clinical Informatics Initiatives: Develop and implement clinical information systems that support evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, IT professionals, and vendors, to design, develop, and implement clinical information systems.
- Provide Clinical Data Stewardship: Ensure the integrity of nursing data collected, retrieved, and disseminated from clinical information systems.
- Support System Development Life Cycle: Participate in the system development life cycle (SDLC) for clinical information systems and clinical communication systems.
- Identify Opportunities for Optimization: Analyze clinical system functionality and adoption, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop Educational Content: Collaborate with other resources to develop and implement educational content related to clinical information and communication systems use.
- Support End Users: Provide elbow support, troubleshooting, optimization, and change management for end users of clinical information and communication systems.
- Evaluate Safety and Effectiveness: Evaluate factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance when developing and implementing clinical information systems.
- Participate in Vendor Selection: Participate in Medstar Health projects for the selection of enterprise clinical information and communication systems.
- Design and Implement Data Sets: Design, validate, implement, and optimize data sets, visualizations, and reports for constituents.
- Act as a Change Agent: Anticipate future needs of clinicians and innovate in the best interest of clinicians and patients.
- Liaise between Groups: Facilitate communication between groups where constituents, data, and technology interface.
- Contribute to the Body of Knowledge: Disseminate best practices through conference presentations, posters, and publication.
- Maintain and Advance Knowledge: Maintain and advance knowledge and skills in nursing informatics through continuing education and/or advanced education.
- Provide Consultation: Provide consultation in the field of nursing informatics by participating on nursing and nursing informatics councils at the local or system level, and on hospital and relevant MedStar Health committees.
- Collaborate with Clinical Practice Experts: Collaborate with clinical practice and learning/education experts to ensure clinical information systems support evidence-based practice and MedStar's clinical practice guidelines.
- Adhere to Regulatory Standards: Adhere to the State Nursing Practice Act, regulatory, ethical, and accreditation standards, and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
