POSITION OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this role is to engage in semi-skilled tasks that involve extensive cleaning duties, including mopping, scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing, to uphold the cleanliness, organization, aesthetics, and safety of the facilities and grounds in a diligent and precise manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Facilities Serviceperson and Grounds Maintenance will execute the following key responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness in all designated areas both inside and outside the educational institution.
  • Conduct scheduled tasks in accordance with established custodial standards.
  • Sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, and other restroom facilities while ensuring supplies are replenished.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash containers from various locations and ensuring proper disposal methods are followed.
  • Perform landscaping duties including mowing lawns and trimming hedges using appropriate equipment.
  • Replace and clean light fixtures, wash windows, and maintain the appearance of trees and shrubs.
  • Utilize heavy machinery for cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors and surfaces.
  • Dust and polish furniture and perform minor repairs as necessary.
  • Clear debris from outdoor areas such as yards and parking lots.
  • Assist in planting and maintaining flowers and other greenery as directed.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order through regular cleaning and servicing.
  • Notify supervisors of supply needs and identify maintenance issues requiring attention.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Complete all assigned tasks efficiently while documenting time and materials used.
  • Engage in activities that promote equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills relevant to job responsibilities.
  • Stay informed on current practices and technical resources related to job functions.
  • Follow all safety regulations and procedures diligently.
  • Comply with federal and state laws as well as organizational policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience in custodial services and related trades such as landscaping and maintenance.
  • Ability to complete the Basic Facilities Service training program and obtain certification within the initial employment period.
  • Competence in operating cleaning and maintenance equipment.
  • Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and climb ladders.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English regarding cleaning and equipment use.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
  • Basic computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational achievement.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is advantageous.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

Compensation and benefits will align with the approved compensation plan of the organization. The work schedule and hours will be determined by the governing body.

Successful completion of the Basic Facilities Service training program is required to achieve certification within the probationary period.

HOURLY RATE

$22.75 per hour

($0.35 Shift Differential)

Work Calendar: 261 days


NOTE: New hires will start at the minimum of the assigned salary range.
