We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Ochsner LSU Health System. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care by performing diagnostic imaging procedures and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
- Operate radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
- Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
- Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
- Complete timely quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted
- Assist in departmental operations, including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance
- Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA-approved school and/or completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- 2 years' experience in Radiologic Technology
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Current license in the state of practice
- Advanced level certification(s) in specific additional modalities
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of procedures and technical language
- Ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
- Ability to work self-directed and to function without direct supervision
The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
