Position Summary: As a Litigation Consultant specializing in General Liability, you will be responsible for managing complex cases involving significant injuries and intricate legal issues. Your expertise will guide the development of effective strategies aimed at achieving favorable resolutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and respond to reports and inquiries, seeking legal counsel when necessary to facilitate early resolutions.
  • Manage high-stakes cases involving serious injuries and complex coverage matters.
  • Formulate action plans in response to legal decisions and agreements, ensuring client authorization is obtained.
  • Identify opportunities for settlements and manage the documentation process.
  • Coordinate with local counsel and oversee their performance throughout the litigation process.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including plaintiffs' counsel and clients, to address inquiries and provide updates.
  • Develop defense strategies by identifying key issues within cases.
  • Adjust accrued liabilities and approve administrative expenses as necessary.
  • Identify and manage subrogation opportunities effectively.
  • Participate in mediations, trials, arbitrations, or hearings as required.
  • Collaborate with partners to facilitate early return-to-work initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization's objectives.
  • Contribute to the organization's quality improvement programs.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred, with a Juris Doctorate (JD) being highly desirable.

Experience: A minimum of ten years in litigation management, including five years in claims management or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant insurance principles and legal frameworks.
  • Proficient in legal documentation and discovery processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet performance standards.
