Job Summary:

As a Switcher at FedEx, you will be responsible for performing trailer switches, communicating with management and central control, and documenting trailer moves. You will also perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment and understand and demonstrate effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform trailer switches, including hooking and moving parked trailers from the yard to a load/unload door or hooking and moving trailers from a door to the yard.
  • Communicate with management and central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
  • Document trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
  • Understand and demonstrate effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.
  • Perform Package Handler essential functions, including loading and unloading packages and/or lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling packages.

Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull packages up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
