The Category Implementation Buyer plays a pivotal role in our strategic sourcing initiatives, ensuring the seamless integration of supply chain operations that align with our Ford+ vision. This position is essential for maintaining supply continuity and fostering strong partnerships with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Global Leadership: Act as the primary contact for AC Lines, overseeing sourcing strategies and program milestones.
- Market Analysis: Gather insights on product specifications, cost objectives, and market trends to develop a robust bid-list.
Strategic Sourcing Activities:
- Collaborate with the Category Manager to align sourcing strategies with industry advancements and supplier capabilities.
- Execute sourcing processes that prioritize quality and cost-effectiveness for Ford Motor Company.
- Present sourcing rationales to executive leadership, articulating the strategic benefits of decisions made.
- Engage with suppliers to provide constructive feedback on pricing and market positioning, fostering long-term relationships.
- Identify competitive pricing opportunities during future program workshops.
Business Development:
- Work closely with the Category Manager and Product Development teams to assess the supply base and identify technological trends.
- Establish annual cost-saving targets by leveraging commercial opportunities and enhancing supply chain efficiencies.
- Create material cost roadmaps that align with corporate objectives for sustainable growth.
- Lead negotiations with global suppliers to meet strategic priorities.
Supply Chain Support:
- Provide support to Supplier Quality and Material Planning to address quality issues and supply shortages.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to explore alternative supply sources and technologies.
- Resolve commercial challenges promptly to maintain production schedules.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Travel as necessary to engage with suppliers.
- Continuously evaluate existing processes for potential improvements.
- Complete required training to ensure proficiency in the Category Implementation role.
- Participate in workshops with stakeholders to drive process enhancements.
- Conduct effective meetings with suppliers to address issues and strengthen relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive procurement and supply chain management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills for effective proposals and presentations.
- Experience in developing and executing negotiation strategies.
- Proficient in data analysis and sourcing processes.
