Astronomy Professor Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified Astronomy Professor to join our team at Mt. San Antonio College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in basic astronomy, including lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach astronomy courses to students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students
  • Stay current with developments in the field of astronomy and incorporate new knowledge into teaching
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in physics, astronomy, or a related field
  • Experience in teaching astronomy at the post-secondary level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in astronomy or a related field
  • Experience in teaching astronomy at the community college level
  • Strong background in astronomy research and publication
