Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Portfolio Manager to join our team at BMO Financial Group. As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating decision-making and analysis of credit information to support lending decisions and processes. You will maintain and promote a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish cross-selling initiatives to increase penetration with clients
  • Apply deep expertise in bank products, processes, and systems to ensure a high-quality client experience
  • May coordinate closing with closing department, clients, and attorneys
  • Serve as a daily escalation resource to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded
  • Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group
  • Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives
  • Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business
  • Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues
  • Help determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy
  • Act as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders
  • Participate in the development of financial models and other analytical tools to assist clients in evaluating capital structure
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards
  • Maintain current on financing trends in target clients' markets, and communicate same to team members
  • Lead or participate in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behavior; develop tailored messaging; and identify appropriate distribution channels
  • Oversee preparation of concise, well-reasoned credit correspondence
  • Coordinate the preparation of lending proposals and pitches to prospective clients with efforts to maximize penetration and returns
  • Negotiate transactions with clients and provide deal structuring expertise
  • Oversee documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance
  • May manage workflow of other analysts by aligning tasks with departmental goals and objectives
  • Provide accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers
  • Partner with internal stakeholders for accurate, detailed client information
  • Develop credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans
  • Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and email interaction with clients
  • Prepare summary, present facts, and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness
  • Minimize BMO's risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs
  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience

Salary

$87,000.00 - $161,400.00

Pay Type

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
