Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Unit Specialist II to join our team at NorthShore University HealthSystem. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide administrative support to unit managers and assist with direct patient care in a psychiatric milieu.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to unit managers, including organizing group materials, handbooks, and clinical materials.
  • Complete clerical and clinical projects assigned by unit managers.
  • Perform direct clinical care to patients as directed by the charge nurse.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop materials to enhance psychoeducation.
  • Participate in program development actions as directed by the unit manager.
  • Assist with safety checks and ensure patient safety by providing one-to-one supervision.
  • Complete clinical projects assigned by the unit manager.
  • Sort, classify, and file materials, and update records and files as necessary.
  • Post department information to records, logs, and/or journals in accordance with specific instructions.
  • Respond to telephone or visitor inquiries with standard information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of experience providing direct patient care in a psychiatric milieu.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and willingness to seek supervision.
  • Ability to identify escalating behavior.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer software.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.
  • Skills in teaching or assisting with activities of daily living.
  • Prior experience with therapeutic limit-setting and milieu management.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office software.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License.
  • CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • CPI certification within 90 days of employment.
