MedStar Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at Washington Hospital Center. As a certified respiratory therapist, you will provide exceptional patient care by demonstrating strong knowledge in the field of respiratory care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions, as well as their educational needs, and document accordingly.
  • Perform all respiratory therapy treatments and services, including oxygen, mixed gas, and humidity; monitoring; ventilators; bronchial hygiene; lung expansion; Spirometry testing; EKG machines; and Blood Gas Analysis.
  • Employ principles of therapeutic communication, interviewing techniques, problem-solving, and crisis intervention when performing patient care.
  • Respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining the airway, providing oxygen and ventilation, and performing closed chest cardiac massage.
  • Facilitate workflow efficiency, monitoring interdepartmental systems and processes, departmental policies and procedures, and making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in respiratory care from an AMA-accredited program.
  • CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) - NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist or NBRC Registered Pulmonary Function Technician.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within one year of hire.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Certification Program required within one year of hire.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification required within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field.
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
