Electroencephalogram Technician

Position Overview:
The Neurodiagnostic Technician I embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Role Responsibilities:
This role supports the Neurodiagnostics Lab and is primarily tasked with conducting Electroencephalograms across various environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

The Technologist should possess the capability to work autonomously, collaborate effectively within a team, and consistently pursue excellence in performance.

Key Duties Include:

• Executing clinically proficient routine electroencephalograms and long-term epilepsy/continuous electroencephalograms for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
• Demonstrating proficiency in various application techniques, including collodion and paste.
• Completing internal training and exhibiting competence in identifying normal and abnormal waveforms.
• Interacting with diverse age groups and disabilities in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Ensuring accuracy in charge posting and maintaining a detailed logbook.
• Assisting Physicians with EMG procedures.
• Managing patient scheduling and phone inquiries.
• Maintaining cleanliness of equipment.
• Reporting service issues to the Lead Technologist or Supervisor.
• Occasionally traveling to other facilities to cover shifts or assist with high workloads.
• Participating in rotating on-call duties, including weekends and holidays.
• Completing a minimum of 10 CEU credits annually.
