Job SummaryThe Construction Laborer position performs a wide variety of duties in support of constructing telecommunications utilities. This position works establishing, building and maintaining various telecommunications projects and involves physical labor tasks at road/highway sites and heavy construction projects.
Responsibilities- Operate Hand and Power Tools: Operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.
- Dig and Backfill: Dig trenches, backfill excavations, or compact earth to grade specifications, using shovels and other equipment.
- Material Handling: Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools; and distribute to appropriate locations.
- Prepare Worksite: Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in road/highway environments to prepare worksite for telecommunications cabling.
- Utility Location: Locate underground utilities and eliminate potential hazards for cabling work to be completed.
- Maintain a Clean Job Site: Maintain a clean job site: ensure tools are in proper place, secure equipment and supplies to avoid potential hazards.
- Assist in Cable Installation: Ability to assist in pulling out cable lines and other equipment used in installing cable wires.
- Conduct Traffic Control: Conduct traffic control near, in or around work zones.
- Material Storage: Perform material handling and storage tasks.
- Ensure Safety: Ensure proper safety techniques and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience: One or more years of roadside construction experience preferred.
- Tool Competence: Ability to demonstrate competence with hand and power tools.
- Valid Driver's License: Valid Drivers license (CDL highly preferred).
- Driving Skills: Ability to drive for results completing assignments timely and accurately.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Teamwork: Comfortable working with a team or alone.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a drug screen, criminal background check and driver's license verification.
Pay Range: $23.00/hr based on experience
