Job Summary:

As a Pharmacy Intern at Allina Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective flow of operations within the pharmacy. You will be responsible for preparing, dispensing, and checking medications, obtaining medication histories, and providing assistance and support to pharmacists and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, check, and dispense medications, including filling first doses and refill floor stock, performing data entry, adjudication, filing, and selling prescription duties, and reviewing clinical data on patient profiles for clinical appropriateness.
  • Perform medication distribution, including delivering medications, IVs, and supplies, gathering medications that have been discontinued on the floor, and restocking medications used on crash carts and other emergency boxes/kits.
  • Perform admission medication histories, including performing medication reconciliation interviews with patients, utilizing nursing home medication administration records to complete medication reconciliation, and accessing and applying information from electronic health records.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description, and a High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of one year at an accredited College of Pharmacy preferred or enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy working towards a Pharmacist degree required or foreign-trained pharmacist working towards state Pharmacist licensure required.
  • 0 to 2 years experience in Pharmacy preferred, and Pharmacy Intern Certification/Registration upon hire required or Pharmacy Intern Certification/Registration if registered Pharmacy Technician upon hire within 1 Year required.

Physical Demands: Light Work: Lifting weight Up to 20 lbs. occasionally, Up to 10 lbs. frequently.
