POSITION OBJECTIVE: To deliver safe and effective healthcare services to pediatric patients. Engage in clinical operations and contribute to the education and training of medical residents, fellows, and other healthcare trainees. Participate in independent and collaborative research initiatives. Involve in scholarly activities and administrative duties. Responsible for initiating, coordinating, and managing well-structured research projects with potential for external funding. Collaborate with Scientific Directors and colleagues to enhance the productivity of the organization’s scientists and clinician-scientists. Develop, communicate, and implement strategic and operational plans to fulfill the mission and values of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Patient Care:
Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate healthcare aligned with clinical expertise and specialty. Contribute to clinical services by demonstrating proficiency in patient care. Achieve local and regional recognition as an authority in the pediatric field. Develop unique clinical skills or programs that stand out locally or regionally. Document patient interactions accurately. Implement innovative patient care strategies as necessary. Provide specialized consultations related to pediatric health. Conduct patient examinations and coordinate comprehensive care services. Execute procedures, gather and analyze data, and make informed decisions regarding patient care, including initial assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-ups. Formulate and adjust individualized care plans based on patient evaluations. Coordinate post-discharge care and rehabilitation for patients. Ensure timely therapeutic management and care to optimize patient outcomes.

· Research, Education, and Training:
Instruct and oversee the patient care activities of assigned medical students, residents, and fellows to ensure safe and effective care delivery. Recognized as an exemplary educator and mentor. Prepare and deliver lectures for residents and engage in bedside teaching within the division. Actively participate in departmental educational initiatives. Stay updated in the field through continuous education, literature review, and seminars. Conduct independent and collaborative research that aligns with ongoing projects or service-related objectives. Ensure all research activities maintain high-quality standards while ensuring fiscal responsibility. Collaborate on research projects with peers from various divisions and departments. Mentor graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, residents, and students in research-related functions. Contribute to the development and leadership of research and educational programs at the division or departmental level. Conduct evaluations for students, residents, and peers. Enhance professional knowledge through participation in seminars and professional gatherings.

· Service and Administration:
Engage in service and administrative roles by contributing to the development of patient care programs or educational initiatives. Provide consultation for specific program developments and participate in performance improvement initiatives. Serve on divisional, departmental, or medical staff committees as needed. Maintain active involvement in all division activities. Stay informed about departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Foster positive interpersonal relationships and promote teamwork. Lead the integration of existing programs and the development of major initiatives within the department. Spearhead program development for service and administration, showcasing leadership in innovative program development for research and educational purposes.

· Scholarly Activity:
Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly activities through the publication of original research, educational studies, clinical observations, and participation in clinical trials. Design and conduct clinical research in various pediatric specialties. Publish findings in a timely manner and present results internally. Assist in designing programs to evaluate treatment efficacy and recommend improvements. Collect and analyze data to develop processes based on performance metrics. Seek external funding for research and educational programs. Apply advanced research methodologies to develop clinical research initiatives. Cultivate new externally funded research projects and secure grants from major funding bodies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent.
- Unrestricted medical license.
- Credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division.
- Completion of all pre-employment requirements.
- Eligibility for Assistant Professor appointment.
- Prior clinical practice experience may be necessary based on departmental needs.

Preferred:
- Board certification.
- Three years of relevant experience in research or laboratory settings.

SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to relate to diverse populations.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating data and making informed decisions.
- Organizational and prioritization skills.
- Knowledge of research methodologies and pediatric care principles.
- Professionalism and ability to work effectively in a complex medical environment.
