Position Overview

As a Legal Assistant at Houssiere, Durant & Houssiere, LLP, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Record Management: Efficiently request and track medical records relevant to our cases.
  • Client Intake: Conduct initial client interviews and gather necessary information to support case development.
  • Microsoft 365 Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to manage documents, create reports, and communicate effectively.
  • Case Development: Prepare and manage demands, and create detailed chronologies of case events.
  • Filing and Compliance: Draft and file legal complaints with appropriate courts and agencies, and utilize the PACER system for electronic case management and filings.
  • Case Management: Assume responsibility for case management tasks and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling and correspondence.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and other team members.
  • Proactive Approach: Demonstrate a proactive approach by seeking clarification and guidance when needed.
Qualifications
  • Personal Injury Law Experience: Previous experience in a personal injury law firm is preferred.
  • Administrative Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Microsoft 365 Proficiency: Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in managing case files and documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive team environment.
  • Proactive Attitude: Willingness to ask questions and take initiative.
  • Spanish a plus.
