Agile Project Manager Opportunity

At Builders Mutual, we're seeking an experienced Agile Project Manager to drive successful initiative outcomes. As a key member of our team, you'll guide Delivery Teams in applying Scrum practices and agile principles, ensuring projects align with our strategic goals.

This role involves working as a Scrum Master on our Agile Delivery Teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation. By promoting Agile values and best practices, you'll empower teams to deliver high-quality products and services that meet evolving business and customer needs.

As an Agile Project Manager, you'll have the opportunity to work from your home office, collaborating virtually with your team daily. You'll also have the chance to attend meetings and company events in Raleigh up to four times a year.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding and coaching the Delivery Team on Scrum practices, self-organization, and cross-functional skills to enhance communication and ensure successful delivery of high-quality products, updates, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to influence decision-making and support organizational product teams.
  • Collaborating with other Scrum Masters and Functional Managers to enhance team effectiveness and resolve impediments.
  • Reporting on Delivery Team progression to Builders Mutual leadership, providing clear and actionable insights through informed analysis and presentation of relevant metrics.
  • Utilizing industry tools to produce key metrics (velocity, burn-down, defects) and report to stakeholders, ensuring transparency in delivery progress.
  • Facilitating and supporting Scrum ceremonies, including Program Increment Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Coaching and supporting the Product Owner and the Delivery Team.
  • Performing traditional project management responsibilities as required, ensuring that work initiatives are completed within scope and budget.
  • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring progress reports and influencing team plans as necessary to meet delivery objectives.
  • Managing risks, issues, and dependencies through effective communication with stakeholders and vendors, ensuring timely and on-budget resolution.
  • Ensuring all solution documentation is up-to-date and accessible, maintaining effort visibility and accountability.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, including at least 2-3 years as a Scrum Master.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum practices, and traditional project management principles.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills for guiding teams and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using Azure DevOps or similar tools for Agile project management and metrics reporting.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and the technology stack used at BMIC.
  • Strong facilitator with the ability to lead meetings and workshops.
  • Mentorship skills to support team development and growth.
  • Confidence to act as a change agent within the organization, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and an agile mindset.
