POSITION SUMMARY
The Procurement Specialist will enhance business operations by acquiring materials, components, supplies, and services essential for operational support. They will ensure that all purchases meet the required quality and quantity standards, are cost-effective, and are delivered in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Generate purchase orders based on MRP requirements and incoming requisition forms
- Evaluate MRP requirements and modify orders to align with actual needs
- Update item data settings to optimize MRP demand
- Review shortage reports and take necessary actions to prevent production delays, including liaising with vendors, production teams, and warehouse staff
- Oversee the scheduling of open orders in accordance with production planning adjustments
- Manage vendor warranty claims effectively
- Assess new vendor capabilities based on established criteria and phase out underperforming suppliers
- Prepare and issue RFQ requests, comparing MOQ, payment terms, freight conditions, etc.
- Negotiate vendor quotes to drive cost reductions and report on savings achieved
- Regularly manage PPVs
- Maintain clear and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate meetings and prepare necessary materials
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department manager
- Establish standards and procedures for ongoing improvement
- Stay current with technical and supervisory skills through training, special courses, seminars, exhibits, and trade shows as required
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- APICS certification preferred
- 2-4 years of relevant purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated negotiation skills
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal abilities
- Experience with an ERP system (Infor/Baan preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills
