Job Summary

This part-time position is designed for an industry professional who will help train students in the HVACR program at Dixie Technical College. The successful candidate will ensure a positive and engaging learning environment in both classrooms and labs, providing students with relevant and worthwhile experiences daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in accordance with classroom syllabi, curriculum, and structured lesson plans, with a focus on hands-on learning experiences and feedback.
  • Assist program instructors in providing active and diverse learning experiences, retaining student interest while transmitting information and developing skills.
  • Communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities, ensuring a structured learning environment.
  • Assist in assigning and evaluating class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner.
  • Observe, evaluate, and record student performance and development, providing quality feedback and notifying full-time instructors of any issues.
  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures, involving full-time instructors as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all circumstances, especially concerning student information.
  • Ensure safety standards are met, adhering to College, local, City, State, and Federal guidelines, as well as FERPA requirements.
  • Model a professional environment for students in the classroom and lab.
  • Participate as an active member of the program's instructional team.
  • Ensure the program meets COE accreditation standards, if applicable.
  • Assist with biannual Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meetings, if applicable.
  • Comply with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 3 years of industry experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree or Industry Recognized Certificates.
  • EPA 608 Certification required.
  • RMGA Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less.
