Job Responsibilities:- Patient Preparation and Imaging: Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining procedures, answering questions, and positioning them for optimal imaging while ensuring their comfort and safety.
- CT Equipment Operation: Operate CT equipment to produce diagnostic images as requested by physicians. Ensure high-quality imaging by adjusting settings and utilizing appropriate techniques based on patient needs.
- Radiology Equipment Maintenance: Operate CT scanners and other radiology equipment. Perform routine maintenance checks and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functioning.
- Radiation Safety: Apply knowledge of radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to both patients and staff. Properly shield patients and follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Patient Records and Communication: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including imaging logs and documentation of performed procedures. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state, and federal regulations. Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. Communicate effectively about patient condition and any abnormalities seen during scans.
- Contrast Agent Administration: Administer contrast agents when required for specific scans, ensuring patients are screened for allergies or adverse reactions. Monitor patients during procedures for any signs of discomfort or complications.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency on-call situations as required, ensuring rapid and effective CT imaging during urgent cases.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, particularly HIPAA, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of CT scan technology advancements.
- Education and Certification: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Registered CT Technologist certification (ARRT-CT) and state-specific licensure if applicable.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of CT technologist experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Skills and Abilities: Proficient with CT scanning technology, strong understanding of anatomy, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Must be able to lift and position patients, stand for extended periods, and work under potentially stressful conditions.
