Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at Children's Hospital & Medical Center. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations during the overnight shift, ensuring the safe and accurate use of medications, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, including medication selection, dosage, route, frequency, and duration of therapy, as well as potential drug interactions.
  • Perform daily profile reviews to assess the appropriateness of medication therapy in relation to the patient's ongoing and changing disease state and clinical status.
  • Utilize formulary agents and follow procedures for the procurement of non-formulary items and the use of patient's own medications.
  • Monitor pharmacokinetic patient profiles and perform accurate and timely pharmacokinetic consults.
  • Verify and/or enter orders into the electronic medical record and ensure the timely and accurate dispensing of pharmaceuticals.
  • Review medication orders and triage urgent, routine, and PRN medication orders.
  • Understand and demonstrate appropriate order entry, preparation, and documentation of various pharmaceutical products, including controlled substances, chemotherapy, TPN solution, injectables, oral preparations, respiratory care items, home medications, non-formulary medications, and investigational medications.
  • Provide supervision and timely checking of pharmaceutical products prepared by supportive pharmacy personnel.
  • Effectively identify and resolve routine professional practice problems using critical evaluation skills and manage technology in the day-to-day delivery of pharmaceutical care.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college or university in Pharmacy.
  • PGY1 (Post Graduate Year 1 Residency) preferred or minimum 3 years' experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • BCPS (Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist) preferred or BCPPS (Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist) preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacist (PHARM-R) required or current and valid Nebraska pharmacist or be eligible for licensure in the state of Nebraska.
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association required.
