The successful candidate will be responsible for installing electrical systems in commercial construction markets at job sites and small/medium project locations. This role requires direct supervision/cooperation of assigned helper/apprentice electricians on a per-job basis, promoting excellent customer relations by interacting with clients, determining their needs, and providing solutions.
This position involves working independently and collaboratively as part of a team to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Arriving at job sites on time and being ready to work.
- Exhibiting a willingness to apply oneself, learn, and develop electrical skills.
- Applying basic electrical and construction principles and practices to solve design, development, and modification problems with parts and assemblies provided.
- Completing work according to national and local codes, staying up-to-date with the latest revisions of the NEC.
- Following company policies and procedures and fulfilling daily commitments and project schedules directed by job-site foremen.
- Assisting with loading materials, digging trenches, pulling wire through conduit, and other tasks required to complete projects.
- Treating all customers, trades personnel, vendors, fellow workers, etc., with dignity and respect.
- Maintaining a clean and organized job site.
- Completing paperwork, including timecards, and submitting them when required.
- Adhering to and enforcing CESG's safety policy, program, and training.
- Troubleshooting common electrical systems, including services, feeders, and branch circuits.
- Planning new or modified installations to minimize waste, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid hazardous wiring.
- Preparing sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or following diagrams/blueprints to ensure concealed wiring is installed before completing walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit.
- Splicing wires by stripping insulation, twisting/soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connecting wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Installing control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connecting power cables to equipment, like electric ranges or motors, and installing grounding leads.
- Observing the functioning of installed equipment/systems to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Repairing faulty equipment/systems.
