Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team in San Leandro, California. As a key member of our Behavioral Health department, you will provide high-quality mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention services to adult and child members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Collaborate with treating physicians, psychiatrists, and allied health professionals to plan and direct individual member treatment programs.
  • Provide Psychotherapy Services: Offer outpatient psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups, utilizing evidence-based practices and psychotherapy research methods.
  • Assess and Diagnose Mental Health Conditions: Accurately diagnose patients and develop effective treatment plans, utilizing the DSM-V as a means of diagnosis.
  • Communicate with Members and Families: Instruct and counsel patients and their families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and adherence to prescribed medication regimens.
  • Document and Maintain Records: Prepare intake summaries, treatment plans, and case summaries, and maintain ongoing confidential records in accordance with state and NCQA regulations.
  • Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Participate in staff conferences to select, plan, and evaluate treatment programs, and collaborate with other care providers and health educators on matters relating to mental health, health psychology, and behavioral medicine.
  • Supervise and Train Staff: May supervise Post-Masters Fellows, Associate Clinical Social Workers, Associate Marriage Family Therapists, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselors, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Social Welfare from a clinical track, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) with the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Couples and Families Endorsement (California) within 24 months of hire.
  • Skills and Experience: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards, and experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Experience: Previous post-license experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient or inpatient setting/program under licensed supervision.
  • Skills and Experience: Demonstrated professional maturity and ethical integrity, commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic, and ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
