The Position:
As a Tax Services Intern, you will be an integral part of client service teams. Interns are assigned to projects akin to an Associate and receive both formal and practical training to refine and enhance their technical capabilities. This role provides an environment that broadens your interpersonal and technical skills while deepening your understanding of tax implications across diverse industries.
Intern Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting research on tax legislation, regulations, and their applications to specific scenarios, resulting in drafting memorandums to support decisions and/or outlining solutions to identified issues;
- Assisting in various phases of tax compliance projects, including individual, estate, gift, and fiduciary tax returns;
- Collaborating with a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry expertise, aiding our clients in resolving complex business challenges;
- Actively seeking guidance, clarification, and constructive feedback;
- Supporting selected projects that showcase creative thinking and individual initiative while functioning as a team member;
- Exhibiting flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks while applying professional skepticism.
Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated hourly rate for this role is competitive and varies based on individual qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, and/or an advanced degree in Accounting, Taxation, JD, or LLM;
- Eligible candidates should be in their third year of a four-year degree program or in their fourth year of a five-year degree program. Interns typically join us during the winter/spring or summer preceding their expected graduation;
- A minimum GPA of 3.0;
- Strong leadership, multitasking, and organizational abilities;
- Self-motivated with the initiative to identify opportunities in a dynamic environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Capability to engage with various levels of client and firm management through both written and verbal communication.
Before commencing full-time employment, it is preferred that candidates will be eligible to sit for the primary credential exam relevant to their practice area, such as having 150 credit hours to qualify for the CPA exam in certain jurisdictions.
