Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting and Risk Management: Utilize product line subject matter expertise to perform analysis and review potential business prospects, recommending profitable risk selection.
  • Complex Underwriting Activities: Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met.
  • Relationship Building: Forge and maintain strong relationships with multiple agency leaders by utilizing high degrees of business acumen to deliver sound underwriting decision-making, ensuring personalized and quality service, and garnering support for department activities and business growth.
  • Portfolio Optimization: Optimize assigned line/s of business portfolio growth by reviewing, classifying, evaluating, and rating complex business, communicating high-risk exposures to senior leaders, and providing feedback on recommendations.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead profitability and process/automation improvement initiatives by informing senior leaders on innovative underwriting best practices, guiding the development and implementation of strategic plans, and training programs, and tracking team performance within assigned territories to identify gaps and promote efficiencies for alignment with department objectives.
  • Document Management: Manage documents in accordance with underwriting standards and policies, making sound decisions regarding underwriter recommendations to ensure adherence to business profitability objectives.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience: 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to negotiate and build relationships, creativity and alternative thinking, effective communication and presentation skills, and adaptability in a complex changing environment.
