Kitroser Lewis & Mighdoll is on the lookout for a skilled and driven Associate Attorney to enhance our Litigation Department. This role will also provide essential support to our Estate Planning, Estate and Trust Administration, and Guardianship divisions as necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong proficiency in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, notices, and discovery requests/responses. They will also be responsible for providing in-court support, conducting thorough legal research, and producing clear and persuasive written materials. A proactive attitude towards attending and arguing court hearings is essential, along with a willingness to learn the intricacies of contested evidentiary matters from inception to resolution. Collaboration and teamwork are crucial attributes for success in this position.
While prior litigation experience is mandatory, familiarity with Estate Planning, Estate and Trust administration, and Guardianship-related litigation is preferred but not essential, as the firm is committed to offering training and mentorship.
Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered after the training period.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, notices, and discovery requests/responses.
- Preparing for hearings, trials, and mediation sessions.
- Participating in court hearings, with initial assignments tailored to experience; the attorney will be expected to gain practical experience and progress to managing contested evidentiary hearings independently.
- Supporting senior attorneys and paralegals with various tasks as required.
- Staying informed about local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Conducting legal research and creating memoranda on researched issues.
- Assisting in the review of discovery production from parties and non-parties.
- Reviewing legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintaining case reports and updates.
- Tracking billable and non-billable time and expenses in practice management software, including the review and approval of client invoices.
Qualifications
- Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- 2-3 years of litigation experience required.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Client service-oriented mindset.
- Capability to perform under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Clio practice management software is advantageous (preferred, not mandatory).
- Familiarity with NetDocuments or similar document management systems (preferred, not mandatory).
- Experience with Adobe/Kofax PDF applications.
- Knowledge of the State of Florida e-portal and Palm Beach County ex-parte OLS site.
