Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Archery Instructor to lead our youth development programs at the Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center. As an Archery Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching archery and outdoor skills to youth in a camp setting, promoting a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging archery and outdoor skills programs for youth aged 4th-6th grade.
  • Lead groups of up to 25-50 youth in a track format, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Collaborate with other camp staff to provide a comprehensive outdoor education experience.
  • Maintain the archery equipment, including bows, arrows, strings, and targets.
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans for at least three 50-minute rotations, including rainy day class time instruction.
  • Ensure the security of the archery equipment and range when not in use.
  • Conduct daily checks of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
  • Clean the archery range daily, keeping it free of hazards and debris.
  • Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social or behavioral sciences, or a field related to outdoor skills.
  • 4-H Shooting Sports Archery Instructor Level 1 Certification.
  • Ability to work efficiently with youth in group situations.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training and experience in teaching archery to youth.
  • Desire and ability to work with youth outdoors in varied conditions.
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Ability to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures.
