Transportation Planner

Job Summary:
The City of Bismarck is seeking a part-time Transportation Planner to provide professional planning support for assigned Metropolitan Area Transportation Planning Organization (MPO) programs and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, coordinate, and facilitate MPO activities and programs
- Manage MPO studies and develop federally mandated documents and reports
- Utilize GIS software to develop maps and analyze data
- Participate in the preparation, maintenance, and updating of the Long Range Transportation Plan
- Prepare regular and special reports, and participate in MPO-related public meetings
- Assist in the administration of the local transit system and provide technical assistance to the public and jurisdictional partners
- Develop and participate in special projects and perform related duties
Requirements:
- Knowledge of transportation and land use planning principles, federal and state regulations, and project management principles
- Ability to conduct research and analysis, and develop and implement solutions
- Strong communication and administrative skills
- GIS capabilities preferred
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time position requiring a routine schedule of no more than 28 hours per week, dispersed Monday-Friday. The position may require travel within the local area and a valid driver's license is required.
