Post Anesthesia Care Registered Nurse

Specialists Hospital of Shreveport is seeking a skilled Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. This role involves working Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect, interpret, and document essential patient data in the PACU, ensuring optimal care and discharge planning.
- Prioritize and execute nursing interventions based on patient needs.
- Offer emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Provide clear information and explanations regarding patient care.
- Uphold patient rights, privacy, and dignity at all times.
- Implement and monitor aseptic techniques throughout the postoperative recovery phase.
- Extubate patients as per established protocols.
- Manage intravenous infusions, initiate new IVs as necessary, and document fluid administration accurately.
- Administer medications and oxygen, ensuring thorough documentation of all treatments.
- Recognize and respond to signs of cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or other emergencies.
- Adhere to Universal Precautions in all aspects of patient care.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals and support staff to facilitate patient discharge.
- Educate patients on self-care and home management of postoperative symptoms.
- Document all aspects of postoperative care and any unusual occurrences during recovery.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives by reviewing patient and recovery records.
- Assist with post-discharge evaluations through follow-up calls.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper disinfection of recovery area equipment and furnishings.
- Report any equipment malfunctions and track the return to service of such equipment.
- Engage in the evaluation and training on new supplies and equipment.
- Continuously assess patient responses to nursing interventions and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Active Louisiana RN State Licensure.
- A minimum of two years of recent experience in post-anesthesia care, critical care, or recovery.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Seven paid holidays.
