Job Overview

Position Summary: The Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care. This includes conducting initial assessments, developing tailored treatment plans, and participating in patient re-evaluations and discharge processes. The role also involves supervising the work of Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides, engaging in departmental meetings, and mentoring new staff and students.

Ages of Patients: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric

Health and Safety

Blood Borne Pathogens: Low Potential

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required.
Licensure/Certification: A valid CA Physical Therapist license or a licensed applicant is necessary, along with American Heart Association BLS certification.
Experience: While experience in outpatient orthopedics is preferred, new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist will:

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, taking appropriate actions to address any compliance issues.
  • Conduct evaluations and create treatment plans that are age-specific and culturally sensitive, in accordance with hospital standards and the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
  • Deliver effective therapy interventions and delegate treatment procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure comprehensive discharge planning and maintain individual productivity that meets departmental standards.
  • Document patient care thoroughly, timely, and legibly.
  • Assist with patient flow and provide education and mentorship to student interns.
  • Engage in special departmental initiatives and facilitate communication across disciplines to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all communications from patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
