Probation Clerk

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Probation Clerk to join our team at the Eastern District of North Carolina. As a Probation Clerk, you will provide administrative support to U.S. Probation Officers, furnishing information to a wide variety of people within and outside the court.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide office support and assistance by performing general reception and clerical duties.
• Compose routine correspondence for officers and review, format, edit, and disseminate presentence reports developed by officers.
• Prepare letters, memoranda, forms, petitions, orders, and other court documents.
• Organize and prepare new electronic case files for officers in accordance with established case management and imaging procedures.
• Complete the appropriate criminal record checks, analyze results, and compile related offender investigative material.
• Prepare and input statistical data to include narrative entries pertinent to case activity.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of general clerical experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Word processing and scanning/file imaging proficiency.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others in a team-oriented environment.
• Thorough knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammatical usage, and exceptional customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two-year degree.
• Prior legal or criminal justice experience.
