Job Title: Security Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our guests and employees.

Job Summary:

The Security Officer will be responsible for enforcing alcohol perimeters, controlling access to events, and ensuring adherence to Company Policies. This is a full or part-time position that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:
  • Enforce alcohol perimeters and maintain a professional and respectful demeanor
  • Control access to events and ensure that event attendees are 21 years and older
  • Ensure adherence to Company Policies and General Property Security
  • Conduct pat-down searches and bag checks for alcohol compliance
  • Respond to fire and/or burglar alarms as necessary
  • Deal with guests and other individuals under varying circumstances
  • May be required to transport guests in shuttle vans
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Set up, tear down, and cleanup of events
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Criminal Justice Degree helpful but not required
  • Previous security experience helpful but not required
  • Previous guest service experience helpful but not required
  • Must be able to communicate and handle confrontational and intoxicated event attendees
  • Must have a high tolerance to remain level under pressure and in stressful situations
  • Must think and work as a team player
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers, and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's Service Excellence standards
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing; Spanish a plus
  • Must stand for long periods of time
  • Must bend down to frisk for hidden alcohol on guests attending events
  • Expected to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must work mostly outdoors, sometimes in extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather

This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay. Position is expected to work weekends, evenings, some days, and holidays as needed. Must successfully complete a background check.

Pursuant to county and/or state orders and company policies, every employee is required to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, practice social distancing, wash hands frequently, wear a mask per current guidelines, self-report and call in immediately and stay home if sick, and assist with sanitizing and disinfecting work areas. Employees must follow all resort mitigation plans and protocols, which can be found posted on resort buildings and on Beekeeper.

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel.

Steamboat area base hourly pay rate: $16.50 per hour Overnight officers: $17.00 per hour
