General Overview

The role involves performing a variety of custodial tasks that require moderate skill and experience. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and order within county facilities, ensuring that custodial equipment is in good working condition, managing supply requests, and assisting with minor repairs and installations. The position may also involve training new staff members and operates under moderate supervision, allowing for some independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and floor maintenance.

2. Maintain restrooms by replenishing supplies and utilizing appropriate cleaning agents.

3. Conduct carpet cleaning and upkeep.

4. Clean office furnishings, walls, windows, and floors; manage waste disposal.

5. Inspect facilities for cleanliness and identify necessary repairs.

6. Coordinate minor repairs and adjustments within the buildings.

7. Keep accurate inventory records of custodial supplies and equipment; manage requisitions and receipts.

8. Oversee or perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment.

9. Train new custodial staff as needed.

10. Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in custodial services.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be eligible for insurance coverage through the County's insurance provider.

Skills and Knowledge

1. Familiarity with cleaning techniques and inventory management.

2. Proficiency in using custodial materials, chemicals, and equipment.

3. Ability to instruct and guide others.
