Job Summary

Spaulding Hospital - Boston and Cambridge is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will perform a variety of ultrasound procedures at a technical level, selecting proper imaging techniques and operating ultrasound-imaging equipment to acquire images and provide an initial interpretation of exams to physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and preparation for exams
  • Review patient charts to obtain pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data
  • Explain exams to patients, considering their physical and emotional needs
  • Deliver patient care under the scope of your license and training
  • Utilize universal precaution techniques and safety protocols
  • Perform ultrasound studies on pediatric patients, demonstrating knowledge of related illnesses and care
  • Maintain effective working relations and communication with departmental and hospital personnel
  • Execute paperwork, PACS, RIS, EPIC, and reporting functions as necessary
  • Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies for exams and daily use
  • May oversee and instruct personnel and technology students
  • Participate in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects
  • Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible with shift coverage and overtime
Qualifications and Experience
  • Graduation from an AMA-accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full-time clinical ultrasound experience
  • Meet ARDMS certification requirements or equivalent
  • Registration in all institution-accredited specialties within specified timeframes
  • Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills in English
  • High level of service delivery, problem-solving skills, and computer proficiency
Skills and Abilities
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Manual dexterity for adjusting machine controls and supportive devices
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and ultrasound equipment
  • Problem-solving skills for providing care to patients of various ages and backgrounds
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory images by following set procedures and standards
