Job Summary:

This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of donors by performing medical qualifications, determining donor suitability, and handling donor reactions. The ideal candidate will have excellent patient assessment skills, be able to manage emergency situations, and possess strong communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional donor care through effective interaction and responsiveness to donor needs.
  • Evaluate donor suitability by assessing normal healthy donors for plasmapheresis procedures and immunizations.
  • Explain informed consents for plasmapheresis and immunization to donors, including potential adverse reactions and specific immunization programs.
  • Answer donor questions, ensure clear understanding, and provide opportunities for refusal.
  • Perform physical examinations for donors and review accumulated data to confirm donor suitability.
  • Assist in performing plasmapheresis and whole blood procedures, ensure donor safety, and monitor for reactions.
  • Supervise or provide immediate care for donors experiencing adverse reactions.
  • Administer immunizations, monitor responses, and provide counseling as needed.
  • Maintain the Center's emergency medical kit and equipment.
  • Review test results, consult with Center physician, and address non-routine situations.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related educational program.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills and ability to manage emergency situations.
  • Current licensure in the state where the center operates.
  • Previous work experience demonstrating adaptability, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills, with ability to maintain current and valid licenses.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate computer software, including DMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Physical ability to perform CPR and assist in adverse donor reactions.
