We're seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse to join our team at Travel Nurse Across America. As an OR Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities:- Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients
- Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to patients
- Work within the operating suite, outside of the sterile field, as a circulating nurse or within the sterile field as a scrub nurse
- Prepare instruments for specific surgical procedures, monitor and observe patients during surgery, and respond to potential complications alongside the physician
- 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant
- ACLS and BLS certifications
As an OR Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform a variety of tasks, including providing basic bedside care, preparing and administering medication, and serving as a communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient and initiating patient education plans as prescribed by the physician.
Additional duties for circulating OR Nurses may include responding to comfort and safety needs of patients, accurate care and handling of specimens, and monitoring equipment used during surgery. Scrub OR Nurses may be responsible for selecting and handling surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, and RN First Assistants may assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care, helping control bleeding, and suturing patients following surgery.
OR Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds, and moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. RNs may face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.
