Position Overview:

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking qualified individuals to contribute to an inclusive educational environment as a Lecturer in Photography.

This posting aims to establish a pool of Lecturers for the Visual Arts Department within the College of Arts & Media, specifically to teach courses in Photography.

Successful candidates will be appointed to temporary, non-tenure track roles, with a teaching load of no more than two courses per semester. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on departmental needs. Please note that this posting does not guarantee an immediate open position.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruct students in utilizing photography as a medium for creative expression.
  • Assess photographic projects based on both conceptual and technical standards.
  • Introduce students to significant examples of fine art photography.
  • Teach a diverse range of photographic theories, practices, and techniques.
Compensation and Benefits:

The established salary for this position is $5,150 per 3-credit semester course. This figure represents the University’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • MFA in Photography.
  • Proficiency in teaching both analog and digital photographic practices.
  • Ability to engage and work with a diverse student population.
  • Knowledge of historical and contemporary photographic artists, genres, and styles.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of teaching experience.
  • Expertise in leading critiques of photographic work.
  • 3-5 years of commercial and studio practice.
